Tweedledum and Tweedledee are at it again, and this time they brought friends along from federal, state, and local law enforcement as a multi-agency task force launched a raid Thursday on Dynasty Hair Salon in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Surely, they must've thought, a hair salon that specializes in twisting braids and dreadlocks must be overflowing with the herb.
The drug bust was epic. Multiple people were detained inside the building. Some were questioned. Oh, yeah, and a very small amount of marijuana was found on one person. For all their hard work, this multi-agency task force managed to scrounge out a driblet of pot and one measly misdemeanor. Epic! ...Epic fail, that is.
But don't you worry, kids. A spokesperson sought to assure WDAM's viewers that "the investigation is ongoing and they will continue to work with the Hattiesburg Police to get drugs off the streets."
"Get drugs off the streets?" Marijuana? Unlike alcohol and painkillers, a little pot has never hurt anyone. At least, not until the government decided to launch a war on it through prohibition and, in doing so, create an underground industry full of violence, cartels, and (sometimes successful) police raids. I mean, hey, the Tweedles need something to do to make themselves feel useful. It's not like actual violent crime has been on the rise in Hattiesburg or anything in recent years.
Admit it, HPD and American law enforcement. You're not protecting anyone by fighting the war on drugs. You're not protecting anyone with your cute little raids on marijuana. You don't work for the people. You are hurting the people. You are sending non-violent people to prison and making criminals out of people for smoking a little bit of pot, which, when left alone, at its worst might cause a friend to elapse into an annoying fit of giggles and raid your food cabinets (with a much higher success than these multi-agency drug bust task forces, I'd wager).
Oh, law enforcement. What ever would the people do without you coming here to protect us from marijuana and wasting taxpayer money in the process? More importantly, what would the big pharmaceutical companies and for-profit prison industrial complex do? Bless your hearts.
